Robot fighting in China
URKL, CMG Mecha and the humanoid fighters to know · 中国机器人格斗
China is where humanoid robot fighting turned into a sport with leagues, seasons and prize money. Two competitions lead the way: URKL, a commercial league with a standard robot, and CMG Mecha, a televised tournament run by the national broadcaster. Here is what each one is, who fights, and what is coming next.
Why China leads
Chinese robot makers such as EngineAI and Unitree build full-size humanoids in volume, and fights are a public showcase for them. Both competitions use the makers' own robots, so the shows double as live tests of balance, falls and recovery in front of an audience.
