URKL takes its T800 fights to Shanghai for the first stop of its city tour

The Ultimate Robot Knock-out Legend (URKL), the humanoid fighting league launched by Shenzhen robot maker EngineAI (Zhongqing), staged the first stop of its city tour on 19 September 2026 in Shanghai's Baoshan district. The league had opened in Shenzhen on 16 July. The Shanghai stop featured two bouts, and the Shanghai Observer reported that all 5,000 tickets had sold out.

The event was hosted by the Baoshan district government and run by Shenqing Robotics (Shanghai), a joint venture set up in June 2026 by EngineAI and a local industrial company from Gucun town. All the robots in the octagonal cage were EngineAI's full-size T800 humanoids. Xinhua reported that they entered the cage on their own, located their opponent and adjusted their tactics during the bouts, while Wenhui Daily noted that the July opener had used a semi-autonomous mode.

The featured robots were named White Eagle and Golden Flash. According to Wenhui Daily, White Eagle knocked Golden Flash to the floor during their bout, and the fallen robot got back up and kept fighting. Tech outlet PConline described new moves shown by the T800 in Shanghai, including getting up from the ground in one movement and a jumping knee strike.

The tour stop is part of a wider plan in Baoshan. According to the Shanghai Observer, a robot culture centre of about 1,000 square metres is under construction in the Zhihuiwan tech park to house a robot fight club with regular shows and science-education activities, and an embodied AI centre of 3,859 square metres was due to open in October 2026 in the Shanghai Robot Industrial Park. The organisers say URKL will travel to more cities, but no next stop had been announced in the sources.
